One of my favorite quotes is attributed to numerous sources, but I first heard it as cited by Mark Twain:

I didn’t have time to write a short letter, so I wrote a long one instead

Mark Twain

For years, I’ve had this quote in the back of my mind when writing emails, blog posts, P2s, instructions, or letters. Now, it’s habitually a part of my writing.

Rewriting, rereading. For every iteration, could it be said with fewer, more precise words?

It takes time, it takes practice, and I am no expert, but this simple quote has helped me immensely.
